Mama Biz: Salty Souls Photography
We’re delighted to interview Linda, mama and owner of Salty Souls Photography in Torquay. Linda is a ray of sunshine and we were so lucky to have her photograph the Mama Club Meet up in Mt Duneed in October.

Tell us about what you do:
I'm a photographer in Torquay, specialising in family, newborn, and maternity photoshoots. My work captures the essence of seaside life, full of smiles, adventures, and the love that thrives by the sea. I'm here for families like ours, who live and breathe beach vibes all year round.
What 3 words describe your business?
Family, beach life, memories.
Can you tell us about your journey to getting here:
Before moving to Torquay in 2018, I had just wrapped up my project management studies. Eager to explore a more creative path, I bought my first camera and never looked back!
Life threw a few challenges my way, but through it all, photography became my happy place. I realised that I wanted to turn my passion into my full-time job. So, I invested in better equipment and started an online print store during lockdown (www.lindagorfol.com).
My true calling, though, has always been family photography. It took some time to get there, especially with the arrival of my little girl, Emma. But as she grew, I knew it was time to pursue my dream. I reached out to Torquay mums in August 2023, offering shoots to build my portfolio, and now I'm officially in the business, ready to capture more special moments!
How does a ‘normal’ day look for you?
Our daily routine can be a bit unpredictable due to Dan's job transition. I balance a part-time admin job for two days a week and seize every opportunity to work on photography during Emma's naps or on Dan's days off. Of course, we always make time for Emma's love of the beach. You might spot us at the Elephant Walk playground or cruising along the Esplanade on our longboards.
What’s your favourite thing to do with your little one?
Hands down, our favourite activity is heading to the beach. Emma's eyes light up with delight as she plays by the ocean, and it makes all the challenges, like our journey to secure citizenship, entirely worthwhile.
